British Dyslexia Association Annual Awards 2023 June 2023

On Friday 9th June the British Dyslexia Association held its Annual Awards 2023 at Drapers’ Hall, London.

The event gave the opportunity to highlight the inspiring stories of those who had been nominated by their peers, teachers, families and members of the community. Our very own trustee, Delia Hazell was invited to attend and present the award for Teaching Assistant of the Year! Delia told us that it was an amazing evening and she felt very honoured to be asked to present the Award. Unfortunately the winner of the award, Rebecca Moore, couldn’t attend so Delia also accepted it on her behalf. This is what she had to say about Rebecca:

‘Rebecca Moore is an inspiring and dedicated teaching assistant. She has been nominated due to her specific work with one little girl. For the past eighteen months this person has supported a child who has both physical and developmental special educational needs. She has helped this child make progress against all the odds and has helped the girl create a safe learning environment to become independent in her learning. She has also ensured other children within the class have an emotional attachment to ensure that they feel safe within their own educational programme.’

We send our congratulations to Rebecca and all the other award winners.
